Golf seems to be a bit like Marmite with most people. Though, with the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, it doesn't really matter whether you're a lover or a hater, as if you're not playing on the three spectacular courses, then there's a whole selection of other facilities to immerse yourself in.
If it's fine dining you're after, then you'll be in food heaven - the restaurants here are sensational and some are award-winning. As a guest at Celtic Manor, you'll have access to the health club, so you can sweat it out at the gym, swim in the indoor pool (complete with domed night sky-effect ceiling) or indulge with a massage.
If you fit firmly into the golf-lover category, then the resort's a rather good place to do it, especially considering that one of their championship courses was the venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup. There's also a golf academy and two luxurious clubhouses. And if you want a bit more of the great outdoors, then you could explore the surrounding parkland or take the hour's drive to go walking in the glorious Brecon Beacons.
