The Deal:Golfers must avoid sinking their shots in the Cam on the 3rd and 12th holes of this 6635-yard course. The greens are strewn with ponds, reservoirs, bunkers and trees, and the club's ecologically conscious management of the course makes it a hospitable home for a variety of wildlife. Visitors can take on the 18-hole, par-71 course once on a weekend (usually £22.50 per person), or opt for a full day of golf on a Monday or Wednesday (£25 per person) to really get to grips with the links-style set-up.
The Merchant:Spread across 230 acres of Cambridgeshire countryside, New Malton Golf Club's course stretches down to and crosses over the River Cam. The club's ecologically concious approach means that the staff are committed to using no artificial chemicals in its day-to-day running. Elsewhere, the academy offers FPGA coaching, while the pro shop is stocked full of equipment. A clubhouse serves up meals and refreshments, and also hosts events such as bingo and quizzes.
